Actually, all underground workings make water to some degree, and the Snap Lake access was no exception. Once they shut the pumps down, the access flooded from natural causes.

The water will be dutifully pumped out again, once De Beers goes back to work again.

Had any drill holes been left unplugged and did not become sealed with lake sediments -- goose crap and the like -- then some workers would had a pretty busy time making a patch. You can't miss that kind of leak.
