Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "Do you think they [the Red Cross] would pull out of the US if they were threatened in a like manner here?"

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Is that the next neocon plan, bring chaos and anarchy to the US? But hey, if it did happen here, (and with a level of violence proportionate to our much larger wealth and population level), yeah the Red Cross would run like paint thinner for the border. Simple fact is that humans like living. But why are you asking this question? What possible advancement does it do for you? The facts are that the international agencies are abandoning Iraq, but trying to not make a big deal out of it.

Re: "And how do you think the poverty stricken Iraqi population is going to take the news? ... Personally, I think these very threats might just wind up causing many Iraqis to stop focusing upon the US as an enemy, and possibly as an important ally."

Since they will have reduced assistance, they will blame the whole thing on the US for invading them. Just like they blame everything else on us. It's only in your fantasies that the Iraqis think like you do.

Re: "Or might it be just the epiphany that many Iraqis required to recognize that maybe the US isn't really the true foreign invader, but perhaps the Islamic militants?"

Definition of epiphany, (presumably you're not talking about the Christian religious date, LOL):

A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization: “I experienced an epiphany, a spiritual flash that would change the way I viewed myself”
dictionary.reference.com

Now think about how hopeless your fantasy is. You're making foreign policy plans based on the Iraqi people having an "epiphany". Do you know how rare and unusual epiphanies are??? Hint: It doesn't matter if 0.000001% of the Iraqi population has an epiphany and decides to quit blaming the US, LOL.

Re: "Is that all it requires for a terrorist group to successful chase off relief organizations from vitally important humanitarian missions around the world?"

Yes. Do you have any counter-examples??? I want to hear about this place where Red Cross workers are targeted by an active guerilla operation but remain on the job, dying daily, LOL.
