We live in a global village, and the ME is where the communal fuel dump is right now. I agree that countries like Japan, China, Russia could take a more active role in the policing of the village streets. Do we like the idea of the UN? Maybe a military version of it needs to be organised. The USA could lower it's exposure by having an alternative (low) energy policy. That would be a good way to avoid fights I think.
