Sounds good to me. But we gotta get the word out to that sucker in the big SUV next to me. Or get good electric vehicles.
And heighten the tolerance for nuclear plants. Solar, hydro, and wind can help, but nukes will have a big role to play. And that means getting the public past knee jerk fear at the very word. (EXAMPLE: MRI's originally were known as NUCLEAR Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The word "nuclear" had to go. Made too many people nervous, even though no nuclear radiation is involved.)
Maybe a military version of it needs to be organised. You just said "World Government". The guys in black helicopters. The Sidney Reilly's of the world will go berserk at the prospect. And there are lots of them. I don't think this is a winner.
And do we like it? What stance does it take? The great majority of the gov'ts in the UN are not democracies in any real meaning of the word. Yeah, many claim to be and (sort of) look like one. But when real political opposition with a real chance of taking control shows up, the "special police forces" and tanks begin to roll. And members of that opposition disappear.
It will take some real convincing to convince me that countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, ..... should go along with it. |
