Ted, You're making the world too petty. They're upset with America because they are threatened by our power without an offset.

I never meant to say that the world is too petty. Nations like to be in control of their own destinies, regardless of whether the reigning superpower(s) are benevolent or not.

But even you'll agree that France, Germany, and Russia are cooperating only out of necessity and self-interest, not out of ideals of global community, and certainly not out of humanitarian interest for the Iraqi people. Why should we listen to them, except out of our own necessity and self-interest? They've proven to be hypocrites when it comes to unilateralism (Russia) or Iraqi sanctions (France and Russia).

Let's get rid of the notion that the "world knows best," because the "world" also thought they knew best when it came to the Treaty of Versailles, or slicing up the Middle East, or letting dictators make a mockery of UNSC resolutions.
