If you are arguing that some posters seem set in their ways, more than a little inflexible, and thus don't contribute to the thread, I'm afraid that, by now, covers just about everyone, including yourself. We passed, a long time ago, some mark in which we entertained one another's ideas seriously, could discuss materials if we read the same thing, etc. It's, very sadly, not that thread any longer.
Now, best I can tell, it's a thread in which it's more like a free speech forum than anything else. It no longer bears any resemblance to the "seminar" Ken originally imagined it might become.
The best we can hope for, in my view, is as few personal attacks as possible and some interesting posting of readings by others.
In that latter category, I found Joe Conason's article, which scott posted, very helpful today. |
