Oklahoma Official Plans To Charge MCI, Ebbers
By ALMAR LATOUR, DENNIS BERMAN and SUSAN PULLIAM

In the newest sign that MCI's woes won't easily be put behind it, the Oklahoma State Attorney General plans to file criminal charges against the company, its former chief executive Bernard Ebbers and five other individuals as early as Wednesday in connection with its $11 billion accounting fraud, according to people familiar with the situation.

The charges, the result of Oklahoma's own investigation of the biggest corporate fraud in history, are expected to say that MCI, formerly known as WorldCom Inc., and several of its former executives violated the Oklahoma Securities Act. The state aims to prove that WorldCom and the six individuals including Mr. Ebbers willfully presented investors falsified information about the company, based on which the company offered the sale of its stock.
Federal prosecutors are still considering whether to prosecute Mr. Ebbers.
