Some Thoughts On Divisiveness... I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone here how the word "divisive" entered the modern political lexicon. It happened like this: The Republicans spent eight years attacking Bill Clinton nonstop. They said the most hateful, horrible things imaginable about him, about Hillary, even about Chelsea (remember Rush's "White House dog" crack?), turning the country's public discourse into a toxic waste dump. And then, when they were all done, Karl Rove invented the word "divisive" to describe Clinton, in order to blame the poisoned political atmosphere ON CLINTON HIMSELF. That's where the word "divisive" comes from. Karl Rove. He would be (and doubtless is) rubbing his hands with glee to hear Democrats using his pet word against each other.
