SAN Market Sales Bolstered by Fibre Channel Switches - Demand Highly Elastic According to Dell'Oro Group
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 2003--Worldwide port shipments of Storage Area Network Fibre Channel (FC) Switches and Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) grew 14% Q/Q in 2Q03 to 676 K. "Shipments of lower-priced products skyrocketed," said Tam Dell'Oro, Founder of Dell'Oro Group. "In particular, the 2 Gbps Fixed Switches (also known as Fabric Switches) were the sweet spot. Prices dropped an average of 10% Q/Q while port shipments increased 25%."
