"What if" re GM patents. Any comments?

Just thinking about GM's recent patent activity and wondering what is the possibility that they are putting together a lot of 4-stroke engine patents regarding low-pressure, air-assist DI so that they can somewhat control the ways OCP can be used on a 4-stroke engine and thus make it difficult for another auto company to use OCP.... and in that way they can put off use of OCP as long as they want/can (since they have made it difficult for another auto to use it) and use it as a bargaining chip to make Orbital lower its fees for the use of OCP?

Probably just too much thinking.
