I agree with you on the pledge. That's not nearly enough history. The default on the pledge is "one nation, indivisible." But the TC has been hanging in government buildings here and there, at least, since day one. Seems to me if the courthouse was built a hundred years ago and it was built with the TC inscribed on the walls, then I can deal with that as an historical artifact same as the painting at the Supreme Court. The pledge, OTOH, is not negotiable.

A win-lose approach to this problem is effectively a lose-lose. We don't need this kind of culture war. I don't like the words on the currency either, but I can endure that scratch of the other guys will endure their scratch so that no one has to get gored.
IMO, the other side would be less likely to take their scratch gracefully, but perhaps that's partisan of me... |
