Can someone please explain to me why in the world we would want to be in the business of making grand gestures and displays, while taking pains to make sure they are innocuous? Well, I agree with you that it would be simpler and cleaner to avoid that. But compromises are usually internally inconsistent and inefficiant. You prefer blood and gore?
