Why don't we put this to rest for good? The idea of Sun buying Corel is preposterous. Corel has had about 100 programmers working on Java for 18 months. In order to get that Java expertise, Sun is going to absorb an enormous amount of Windows applications and programmers for which it has absolutely no use, plus a competing network computer. What the heck are they going to do with WordPerfect for Windows and CorelDraw? If they really needed the Java suite, they would license it.

Sun has a closer working relationship with Lotus right now for its Java needs than with Corel. Oracle and Netscape are at lease closer to Corel, not that there's any chance that Oracle would buy Corel either.
