Imagine that, the Federal government lying about the size of the deficit - $700 Billion instead of $455 Billion. Just wait until the final tab for Iraq gets tacked on.

In DOD alone, Rummie casually announced $2 Trillion is "missing". That's $20,000 for every household. And neither Rummie nor his boss has been lynched. Amazing how powerful the propaganda is in this country.

Traditionally these "missing" DOD funds have found their way into "off-book" secret projects. But you never know, they may actually have been embezzeled.

Somthing has got to be done to rein this all in. I think history shows this is why empires collapse - they're just too expensive to run.

It's even more important that these expenditures be paid for with taxes rather than through inflation of the money supply and the Fed purchasing the government debt.

If the total spending was paid for in taxes there would be a much greater incentive on the part of the voters to assure that this spending is curtailed. As it is it appears to be "free of charge" so hardly anyone complains. Our nation has previously played these games during the Civil War, WW-I, WW-II and Viet Nam. How many people do you think will vote for reality?
