So were the regimes of Southern Korean dictators that lasted until the late 80's. Last time I checked, South Korea is just as prosperous as Japan these days. Think that would have happened had America not defended South Korea?

The ranger squad that went into that area of Mogadishu did so on intel that general Haidid was thought to be there with his lieutenants. They went there to capture or kill him, not feed him. The battle erupted because his militia chose to defend him.

Why do you think we went in there to capture or kill the warlord? Because we were evil imperialists who wanted to colonize Somalia, as De Genova implies? No, it's because he was seen as a key figure in hindering humanitarian aid to Somalis.
