Call it what you like, the people there in 1948 should have had the land turned over to them to form a representative government that granted equal rights to Christians, Jews, Moslems, and other.

The Zionist could not allow that to happen, how could they shoehorn a "Jewish" state on lands that had Jews in a minority number?
