Nero,

I have been following the commentary on Kodak with some interest but I have to disagree that there is "little sign of a vigorous company yet".

Since Fisher joined the company, he has seen Kodak's financial position improve quite substantially, from a $1.5 billion loss in 1993 to a $1.3 billion profit last year. Here are some other facts:

1996 1995 1994 1993

Sales 15,968 14,980 13,557 12,873
Net income 1,288 1,252 557 (1,515)
Debt/ Equity 0.23 0.24 0.26 2.24
EPS 3.82 3.67 1.66 (4.45)
Gross Profit 48% 47% 46% 48%
Return on Equity 27% 24% 14% -45%

I would say the reason the stock price is under pressure is not because the company "isn't vigorous" (you can't complain about a 27% return on equity), but because everybody (including me) is worried about the impact of the price-war with Fuji (although Fisher denies that there is one) on market share and future earnings growth.
