Jlallen, you interest me. When I was in the service I often wondered at some of the lifers I saw. What kind of man was willing to defer to others every working day of his life FOR 20 YEARS OR MORE? What kind of man was willing to stand at attention and salute others that had seperate and better mess halls, clubs, and latrines? What kind of man was willing to "take orders" even when his life was forfeit if the orders were stupid? In other words, what kind of man was willing to DEFER TO THE THINKING AND INSTRUCTIONS OF OTHERS ON AN ALMOST PERPETUAL BASIS?

I never could fathom that kind of kneeling deference, and maybe I never will. Seeing your nodding head acceptance of the illogical and often disproved rhetoric dished out by those currently in power, however, raises another question: assuming you didn't get washed out, why did you ever leave the service?
