John,

I didn't know Cheney has any remaining connection to Haliburton. I thought the election law was very clear and that he was completely divested. In fact if memory serves - he had to cash out or cancel some very lucrative options to run as VP.

So to whom does it look suspicious? Conspiracy theorists? This is a dead horse, unless (and this may happen) companies, wanting these contracts and denied access to the bidding, come forward and file suit.

As for offering these to other countries - it will happen when other countries are helping, british and polish firms are being engaged. Do you seriously excpect Elf or Russian firms to get access at this stage?

Remember that at this point, you have to be willing to get shot at to be there. There is a short list of companies with those types of folks. My friends who are in country have general contractor types supporting them. Most of these are ex-marine/special forces types. Not something your everyday company does.

BTW which contractors were used in Kosovo? Which did work in Kuwait after the Gulf War. Hint its pretty much the same list.

John
