The Republicans, if they have any survival instincts, will now cut and run from Iraq as fast as the invaded. They will leave Iraq with a junta and call them the democratic government of Iraq. The job of that government will be to protect American insterests in Iraq and the region. American interests can largely be defined by two things: the Iraqi oil fields and the contracts with "friendly" companies who will help to ensure that the "right people" profit from the invasion.
