Ted, I'm not sure the two movements are as closely linked as you think.

Part of Ted Turner's belief in the U.N. is his vision of a world government that can take care of the needs of every citizen. That's why he pledged one billion dollars to the U.N., though I'm not sure if he actually fulfilled his pledge yet.


The UN is more likely to draw progressives/liberals to it than conservatives. And its just as likely but not always that those people will also endorse a socialistic lifestyle. However, the two groups are not all inclusive.

You know I really think someone like Bill Gates of MSFT fame is politically conservative but socially liberal. I think there are a lot of people like that and then visa versa.
