RE django... There is one definitive work, JSP CD901, the Classic Early Recordings In Chronological Order. It's a bargain at about $26 for 5 CD's. You may not like all the CD's because it covers a lot of time and styles, but you will be happy with the set. Unfortunately, in Django's time there weren't any "albums" as we know them today so we have to rely on modern compilations and modern sound engineering. Also check out "alors?...Voila!" by Tchavolo Schmitt and "Gipsy Project and Friends" by Bireli Lagrene. They are contemporary French Gypsy devotees of the Django style and excellent guitarists in their own right. After you have a chance to listen to some of his stuff I might be able to point you to a more specific era or recording of the style you like.
