Bush has explicitly stated that the war on terror will be long and costly both in terms of $$$ and American blood and treasure....he already has leveled with the public.... As for deficits, in the midst of a war and in the early stages of recovery from the Clinton/Gore recession, it would be unwise to focus on deficit reduction at this time....there will be time to address the issue in Bush's second term.....
