I still think NVLS is having execution problems, probably related to trying to absorb SFAM. I sold SFAM when it was bought by NVLS as I didn't want to risk this problem of trying to digest SFAM with its failed merger of managers... . (FWIW, this was for some risk money in my portfolio so I rolled the funds over into CACS last yr and that is up 1200%) Managing this merger and management egos just has to take management time away from execution and so you get NVLS making excuses for missing expectations while others in the sector "manage around it."

My GUESS is this would be a good company to roll profits out of one of the stronger ones in a portfolio, but you could still get considerable lag in performance as the mid caps like LRCX and UTEK outperform awhile longer

and with CACS (my biggest winner this year) added cbs.marketwatch.com

This is not to say NVLS has been a poor stock to own, just NVLS, AMAT and Agilent have all done about the same since the bottom. AMAT and Agilent are diversified compared with NVLS, UTEK and LRCX so they are expected to go up less, but it seems NVLS is not getting the "pure play premium" they could enjoy if they were executing better.
