Any idea why CHPC sports a $600M market cap?

No income:

biz.yahoo.com

No cash flow:

biz.yahoo.com

and a balance sheet with waaaaaaaaaay more debt than cash, whose equity is the difference between the $375M in debt and the value of the capacity they purchased with it.

biz.yahoo.com

Merril cut them
finance.yahoo.com
9:32AM ChipPAC estimates cut at Merrill Lynch (CHPC) 6.15 -0.17: Merrill Lynch cuts their 2003-04 EPS ests below consensus, as firm believes the factors leading to muted Q3 growth have been more severe than originally estimated; issues include greater than normal price erosion due to aggressive competition at specific accounts, temporary mix shift to lower margin computing packages, and inventory correction in the higher margin communications segment following very strong growth in Q2. Firm maintains Buy rating, but cuts their target to $8.50 from $10.

but keeps them a buy. What a riot!

People just don't get it. This ***IS*** your economic recovery. This is ALL YOU GET and there ain't no more. Whatever money electronics companies can make in this present fantasyland of tax cuts, cash-out refis, zero-percent financing, Fed money printing, and absolutely illogical stock and bond markets - whatever money they are making now - is all they are ever going to make. Period. And many will be split up among the various bondholders once this ridiculous stimulus is removed.

If you can't get it off the ground in this windstorm, you never will.
