I do not know the rationale of the unselected instances. In general, it seems that the idea of incorporation is to make sure that bedrock rights enjoyed by citizens of the United States cannot be denied by the states. Since the Amendment was meant to offer federal protection to freedmen, it seems a reasonable extrapolation.........
