you have a point. basically, it was always gonna be a tough sell, but I think he's right that it didn't have to be THIS tough...

FYI, I got the following in an email today from a friend working in the belly of the beast:

"[It's] Tough, yeah, and hot and dusty and maddening and frustrating as hell. Your govt is by far the majority shareholder in this and I personally think along the same lines as you as to how it's all going, but my own has a lot to answer for too. I remember [our] discussions last year ... over whether or not they would really do it - you were right in that they did it but I was right in that they have had no idea what to do with it afterwards. No where near enough resources - human or financial - have been thrown at this. And the naivety throughout is stunning. Everyone's now reeling over the Najaf bomb wiping out Al Hakim and scores of others. Well, they're hitting each other as well as us so at least there's no discrimination going on! Things will get a little 'hotter' over the next few weeks, I think..."
