Members of the Bush administration are again floating the idea of an amnesty for illegal aliens. Director of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge, said the time was right to resume immigration talks with Mexico. Mexican President Vicente Fox has staked his political career on obtaining an amnesty for Mexican illegal aliens.

Tell President Bush that Americans don’t want another amnesty. Not now. Not ever.

• An amnesty will just encourage more illegal immigration. That's what happened after the 1986 amnesty.
• Even discussion of an amnesty will lead to more deaths of illegal immigrants because they will be more tempted to make the dangerous journey to enter this country.
• There are between 8 and 11 million illegal aliens in the country already.
• An amnesty is unfair to those who play by the rules and wait to immigrate legally.
• A "guestworker" proposal that allow illegal aliens to "earn" legal status is just another name for amnesty.
