China vows continued economic support for N.Korea



BEIJING, Aug. 29 — China said on Friday it would continue its economic assistance for North Korea, which is mired in a nuclear standoff with the United States.
Asked if China would reconsider its assistance should North Korea pursue a nuclear weapons programme, Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi said: ''In the future such assistance will continue to be provided by China within its capacity.'' He said it was a ''goodwill gesture'' towards a ''friendly and close'' neighbour.

U.S. says no intention to attack N.Korea -China



BEIJING, Aug. 29 ?/font> China said on Friday that the United States told six-party talks in Beijing that it had no intention of attacking North Korea or carrying out regime change. ''The United States said it had no intention to threaten the DPRK (North Korea), to invade or attack it, or to change the regime,'' China's negotiator Wang Yi told a news conference at the close of three days of talks in Beijing.
