You make a huge assumption when you assume it can be completed successfully. One problem with this particular hornet's nest is that there may not be a winning hand for the West to play. We may not be able to "improve" the mideast (improve meaning, I infer, that the mideast becomes more Western friendly). I guess it's possible we could be successful, but it doesn't seem likely. Once the electorate begins to really comprehend the costs involved, I don't think you've got any shot at even the slim chance of success.
