Here is the message that you are indirectly referring to:
Iraq is a recruitment bonanza for al Qaida -- we are recruiting terrorists for the streets of New York. At this rate, Americans will no longer need to wonder what it is like to live in Israel, where buses shopping areas and restaurants explode -- Americans will get to live like Israelis, caught in the daily existence of attack and counterattack, and attack and counterattack, day after day, year after year.

If you read the other messages from this person, or even just this one (if read with the slightest bit of intelligence) you see that what we have here is a familar argument that people were making about Afghanistan and now about Iraq.
The argument is that by invading and occupying a Muslim country, the United States (we) are provoking a terrorist response. "We are recruiting" does not mean that the author of the message is himself part of any effort to recruit terrorists. He is saying that he thinks a misguided US policy is, as we call it, counterproductive and is increasing the threat it seeks to suppress.
This may or may not be correct. In fact, I disagree with the idea and approve of the efforts of the US to combat terrorism, though I don't think the occupation of Iraq is going very well.
What is appalling is if two or three people on your thread have deluded yourselves into thinking you are doing a patriotic thing by reporting this person. That's like the citizens who cooperate with totalitarian regimes and denounce their fellow citizens. |
