This is what you wrote, and what I quoted, and what I pointed out the irony of with an offer of documentation:
Why do liberals find it so necessary to insult and denigrate the right? ...They are slowly losing support from people not willing to go down that belittling road.
It is not a personal attack to point out that you belittle liberals or others with whom you disagree quite routinely, if that is in fact, the truth.
But...I didn't know that you were restricting your criticism of "belittling" to "journalists." This of course makes it not inconsistent of you to be a belittler while inveighing against those who "go down that belittling road."
Look what you did, moenmac. Ann Coulter has written a book which essentially labels her political adversaries traitors. But when you ask for examples of RWers who belittle (I couldn't believe that!; ever listen to talk radio? Limbaugh, Savage (both of whom are also print journalists), etc?) you say not to count her. Whyever not? You haven't distanced yourself from her.
Have you listened to the myriad RW radio journalists who fill the air with their, shall we call it, lol, "belittling"? Talk radio is pretty much RW, and pretty much about, er, belittling, wouldn't you agree?
Are some of us more American than others?
To me it feels unAmerican in spirit repeatedly to refer to those with whom you disagree 'vermin,' vomitous,' low-lifes,' or 'traitors,'-- or call for their arrest -- all of which radio/print journalist Michael Savage has done. I don't say he's vermin, and I don't call for his arrest, and I don't call him a traitor, but you asked the question, and I'm giving my reply -- if you don't support the first Amendment, imo there's something pretty central about what America is about that's escaped you.
I wonder why you speak sympathetically of Ann Coulter, who accuses liberals of treason, if you object to "belittling"? Or maybe I misunderstood. How "American" do you feel Coulter's book "Treason" is? Do you feel "Treason" is "belittling" of liberals?
"The Republicans are total incompetents" is the phrase you cite as offensively belittling. How about "liberals are vermin," "anti-war protestors should be taken out and shot," "filthy liberals," "traitorous liberals," and "Treason!"?
Rush Limbaugh, September 23, 2002: We want to wipe out liberalism.
A recent intro-bumper to the Sean Hannity radio program:
Sean Hannity, making mince meat of the scared little liberal girly men!"
There are leftists who compare Bush to Hitler, and there are RWers who call liberals traitorous vermin. I don't mean to attack you, moenmac; I mean to point that out. |
