After a scheduled press conference at 9:30 AM on 9/11 in Sarasota, Bush was whisked to Air Force One and then flown to Barksdale AFB and Offutt AFB. It seems to me that the Secret Service did move to protect the President. Ray, Bush sat in that classroom for at least 10 minutes following official knowledge of the second WTC crash. His presence at the school was publicized and the school itself was near the airport. Hardly standard procedure for the Secret Service to leave him there, exposed, with airborne terrorist incidents happening.
