It's amazing what drag, even at ~.1 atm can do. The actual acceleration on the foam was closer to 100 gees. I wonder how much stress that stuff can take before it fragments too small to do any substantial damage. Maybe NASA ought to switch to some kind of insulation that turns to a powder under extreme stress, while still adhering to the tank under normal conditions, of course.<g>
