09:27 ET Ultratech Stepper started with a Buy at Berean Capital; target $40 (UTEK) 29.32: Berean Capital initiates coverage with a Buy rating and $40 target, citing the following factors: co is a turnaround story with a compelling product portfolio, Laser Thermal Processing is a disruptive technology and is already gaining traction, and the co is well-positioned in Bump processing with stepper technology, which is one of the fastest growing segments in assembly and packaging.

Having just read Clayton Christensen's The Innovator's Dilemma over the weekend [I believe it was he who first coined the phrase disruptive technology], but not having access to the full Brean report, I am more than curious whether Laser Thermal Processing (LTP) can in fact be "disruptive". For one thing, disruptive technologies are usually substantially cheaper than the technologies they disrupt. This one costs "$3.5 million plus" from what I understand. Anyone know what RTP normally costs or can help me better evaluate the disruptive capabilities of LTP v. RTP?
