Were they sales of the cell phones? Or were they actually rebated by the phone company 100% for switching service or staying on a service? Point being if the phone is being given away, why not get a new one.

Not to mention if you need a new battery, its almost cheaper to buy a new phone.

I got a nice new color screen, internet capable one last week for the grand sum of zero. Sends picture, jingles my bells, etc. Just cause I asked when Sprint asked what they could do to get me to sign another 1 year agreement. "Well, hmmmm. I'd like that fancy new $250 phone there for free". OK we'll ship it right out to you.

So? If it wasn't "free", it wouldn't have been "bought" by me cause my old one was just fine. Of course I guess Sprint bought it essentially.
