BTW, I've been to Alaska (I work in oil industry). Plans are that the caribou herd would not be adversely affected by drilling or even pipelines, as the planned pipelines would be high enough above the ground for Caribou to pass under when they migrate.

And what happens when there is a break in the pipe? And what will the ANWR, one of the few untouched places left on this planet, look like with a big ole pipe running through it. Would you want an oil pipe running through your backyard?

The Caribou herds are just one part of the equation. The ANWR is unique as a place.

Just as an obese mean with a cholesterol problem has to remove fatty foods from his diet, maybe its time the US starts to cut back on its oil consumption.
