I would have to look up the exact numbers. I can say we lost few men in the first few years because we mainly had advisors there. It was not until Johnson Americanized the war that we lost many people, although the apogee was '68, I believe. Of course, we already have quite a number of people "in country" and directly engaged.

People die in combat. If the cause is wrong, then no death is justified. If the cause is right, many deaths may be justified. I am merely pointing out that this has not been, by historical standards, especially bloody, so that on a cost/benefit calculus, it should not be condemned.

I am not impressed with those who want to rob those who made such a sacrifice of the dignity of their cause........
