The biggest problem with the Strauss philosophy is that it relies way too much on the altruistic behavior of of those who have pulled on the mantle of the natural aristocracy. The current occupants of the executive branch show all too well where that expectation breaks down. The founding father's philosphy of checks and balances works in the real world. Once that is dismantled the philosophy of power corrupting takes over. TP
