I have been devoting my Free Republic time to banging heads with people over the Alabama Ten Commandments case, thinking that, as a lawyer, my opinion might actually have some value.

Interesting to be told that lawyers and judges don't know how to read the Constitution. Well, who knows, perhaps in the purist sense they are right, although as a practical matter they are wrong. I am far better at "diagnosing" the outcome of a lawsuit than I am at reading nucleotides.

I used to think that the nice thing about diseases was that you couldn't BS them, they were one of those "is or ain't" type of things. Fascinating to discover how politics affects the diagnosis of diseases.
