we have lost the support of the Iraqi people.

We never had the support of the Iraqi people. They didn't ask us to invade their country. There was no general uprising against Saddam to be joined. This was a war of conquest.

The neocons are currently trying to pass the story that even if things aren't going as well as expected, that at least America tried for the best of reasons. B***t !! Let's just turn the way-back machine to labor day of a year ago. Rove decided he needed a war to keep the electorate's mind off the dismal economy, Cheney decided he needed more oil, Rumsfeld decided he wanted to play soldier, and Clueless George was once again on vacation.

That was where the war started. It did not begin with a call from the Iraqi people. While it is possible that there was favors or support to be gained, there was never any resevoir of support to call upon or lose.
