At least the Germans didn't declare themselves the "unilateralist" while looking upon the rest of the UN with utter disdain only to later recant their own arrogance while seeking partners to reconstruct Iraq. I have a very bad feeling the Bush administration is going to jettison Afghanistan once they have either captured or killed bin Laden (of course with our intelligence capability, this may take quite a while). Lessons to be learned from the past with regard to failed states and terrorist proclivities will be forgotten or ignored by this administration.
