"my system tools does not contain the items you suggest" maybe because you're not running win98se (second edition). "I tried a few searches but did not find the tools you describe" if you search for those tools individually in google, you may uncover some promising results when inputting "version conflict manager" in google, one finds helpdesk.umd.edu which, in addition to other useful bits of info on vcm, also contains this note "The Version Conflict Manager tool can be run from the Tools menu of System Information (Programs \| Accessories \| System Tools) or by running the executable file c:\Windows\vcmui." i'm sure there is info out there if you care to research it good luck
