FWIW, I personally know two ex-IBM employees who died of cancer (a neighbor and someone I met in school); neither was particularly advanced in age. Given how few IBM people I know personally, I've always wondered whether they had some industrial exposure to nasties which contributed to their deaths.

But anecdotal indications can easily be mistaken.
