I have no idea what you are running on about. Your hypothetical is wholly fictitious. The goals, tests, and grades are not derived in secrecy, nor are they controlled by a cabal. There are many different universities and professional accrediting agencies, and most of their activities are matters of public record. And what makes you think that a group of cynical yahoos would be incorruptible? We may as well have people who are intelligent, educated, and brought up with certain standards in charge. Finally, although there are some intergenerational elements, part of the point of a meritocracy is that it is constantly churning, and requires people to prove themselves regardless of who their parents were. Irving Kristol went to City College, Bill went to Harvard, he was not even a legacy..........
