Dang Bill, listen to yourself. Coulter works up a frenzy by overstating nearly everything through the use of phrases like "ironclad law of economics." When that phrase and the use for which it is deployed are analyzed, you refer to it as a "rule of thumb." That is not, however, the way that she employed it.

You also make a distinction between "stealing less of people's money" and subsidizing their behavior. You did this in response to my point that we give tax exemptions for having children and yet the birth rate is going down. Do you really believe that there is a difference in incentive between giving someone $100 dollars and reducing the amount you take from them by $100? If you do then Bush should have left taxes intact and "given" all those billions to the wealthy so they would realize it was new money. They could then go spend it on whatever it is that they're supposed to spend it on to help the rest of us out.

Bottom line; if you read Coulter critically you'll see her employ these little "straw men" tricks over and over. It's a trap for the true believers and the dim bulbs. VERY FEW, IF ANY people that are astute, informed and educated take her rhetoric seriously, although they do take the fact that she is a champion of the nodding heads seriously. In essence the phenonomen of Coulter and Limbaugh says more about those on the far right than it does about them. I can assure you that no one will be reading their words in a hundred years to glean any philosophical truths from them, but they may well be reading them to try to understand why people like you were unable to realize how easily manipulated you were.
