yes the true vector service is the zonealarm engine that runs when the firewall is on

in order to circumvent the probs you are having, a good plan would be to disconnect from the net, i.e, shut down your cable or dsl connection and router.

before doing so, make sure that za is not running on the other box... the one that is doesn't seem to be installing on properly. get rid of any zonealarm files so as to start fresh.

with your LAN down, try installing again on the other machine. it should go well.

you will then have to put the IP of each computer in your network into the za trusted zone. it'll be the numbers like 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101

then you should be good.

one note, true vector has to not be running in order to uninstall any existing versions. this is achieved by going into the za control center, overview, and UNchecking "load zonealarm at startup", then rebooting. when your computer starts back up, za will not be running.

remember to place a check mark back in that box after you are done, cause you do want za starting every time when you are not doing uninstalls/installs.

let us know how you did

good luck
