Doug--Take a look at OPC

I don't have the funds to jump into this one, but maybe someone else can benefit from the tip.

QC OPTICS, INC. RECEIVES ORDERS FROM MAJOR COMPUTER HARD DISK MANUFACTURER

WILMINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, JULY 15, 1997...QC OPTICS, INC. (AMEX: OPC, OPC.WS) announced today that it has received a series of orders in the last few days from a major computer hard disk manufacturer for QC Optics' DISKANs, computer hard disk inspection units. The orders encompass both production units for sampling a high fraction of the disks in-line and failure analysis tools for process control.

Eric T. Chase, President and Chief Executive Officer of QC Optics, Inc., commented, "The increase in the percentage of disks inspected is the result of QC Optics' inspection capabilities, which provide our customers increased yield and overall capacity. In addition, QC Optics' tools reduce the disk manufacturer's cost by eliminating bad product early in the manufacturing process before high value added processes occur."

Primarily as a result of these multiple unit orders, QC Optics' backlog has increased to over $7,500,000 currently, from approximately $740,000 at December 31, 1996. Although a significant factor of business levels, backlog is not necessarily representative of future sales, and not all of the backlog is scheduled to ship during the fiscal year ending December 31, 1997. The majority of orders making up the backlog are subject to cancellation (but with penalty charges) and are scheduled to ship within the next twelve months.

This was taken off of their PR page. News just prior to this announcement indicated that the company has relocated to a new--larger facility to handle the the backlog. This is a turn around company. I believe next quarter may be their profitable quarter.

Here is the catch, there is only a 1M float.

Take a gander and see if there is anything here.

I'm gone for a three day weekend <BOG>
