I am probably the most prudish and puritanical contributor to this thread. I would like not only 'no' to mean 'no' but the assumption that it is always a 'no' unless and until there is a marriage agreement.

However, that is not the real world. In the real world no means 'no until and unless' you figure out how to properly woo me into a change of heart. Flirtation, teasing, and you are not trying hard enough often come along with the word no. That being the case we are obligated to engage thoughtfully and with an open mind when a woman comes with a complaint of having been tricked or coerced and the man comes with a complaint of having understood their situation differently. There are a continuum of situations that exist from a violent unprovoked attack to a change of heart in which the woman has fallen for the guy as a result of all of his amorous attention.
