I recently put this question to Intel's VP Finance after Q1 96 results were announced, and it was essentially his view that the market for such a product would be fairly limited given its lack of versatility in relation in the PC. I would tend to agree with him. I think that such appliances could potentially represent a cheap and effective on-ramp onto the Internet, but will pose little competition to PCs, at least until issues such as bandwidth, security etc. are fully addressed.
